Many single parents live in poverty in low socio-economic communities. Numerous single parents have problems related to malnutrition, child hyperactivity, teen pregnancy, drug abuse, crime, and class detainment with high dropout rates.  With few resources, single parents are left to silently address these overwhelming life circumstances alone.

 

Pastor Shelia, affectionately named by those that know her, started FRH with a small number of single parents with at-risk children suffering with many of these issues. She began this work with them and for ten years offered holistic programs in the south side of Tallahassee Florida.

 

Many of the parent-participants went on to live successful lives, working or completing secondary educational goals. To further innovations in service, Pastor Shelia continued her own educational pursuits by obtaining her AA from Tallahassee Community College and a BS degree from the House of the Lord's Theological Seminary.
